Artificial Lighting

It is important to provide light fixtures and controls that will work in  tandem with our natural lighting schemes. We incorporate systems that  use lamp types and arrangement that use less than code allowed maximum  values while still meeting space lighting requirements.

  • Use of pendant mounted light fixtures and simplified lighting controls at high ceilings.
  • We are able to use two switches in a classroom to meet daylight  switching requirements where others have used six to achieve the same  result.  This allows us to add 3-way switching for the teaching wall  lighting.
  • By providing integral dimming capacity on fixtures within the  daylight zone eliminates the need for expensive remote dimmer controls.
  • Light fixtures with two thirds up light and one third down  light are selected to allow for dimming of the up light lamps while  maintaining switching control of the down lighting. This system allows  the down-light to be independently controlled depending on the presence  of sunlight.
  • Use of occupancy sensors to turn the lights off when areas are not occupied.
