Pleased with the success of the recently completed Cascade Ridge Elementary the District asked CAG to design its new elementary school based on the same concepts, including classroom clusters surrounding a light-filled library. Sensitively sited on a long, narrow sloping site with two water systems; one with high pressure, and the other with low pressure, design solutions interface between the two systems allowing the school to be serviced at the required rates. Our team combined on-site treatment and detention for the school in one of three naturally occurring drainage basins. For the other two basins, we teamed with the City of Newcastle to create a larger regional detention pond for future developments in the area. This efficient long-term solution mitigated the environmental impact of the project, while reducing the current and future costs to the school district.
