White Center Heights Elementary is adjacent to King County’s 90-acre Greenbridge HOPE VI urban renewal project. CAG approached this project with the goal of involving a diverse, largely immigrant, population in the design process, our design committee comprised of staff, parents, and community representatives. The building’s bold shapes and colors stand out prominently in its surroundings, reflecting the importance the neighborhood places on education and community. The school has spaces to accommodate a variety of after-school activities and services, such as child care, parent education, and ESL classes.
