We have developed a system to increase the use of our moderate weather patterns to provide building comfort. We accomplished this by:
- Turning the building relief system inside out to allow a path for air to travel through the building even when doors are closed. Relief air is forced through sound lined ducts into connecting corridors which have vertical shafts to allow air to travel to the high clerestory spaces throughout the building.
- Releasing air from the clerestory spaces with mechanical support fans to maintain proper building environment. This can also be accomplished by having automatic operators attached to clerestory windows so they can be opened by the energy management system.
- Taking into account of prevailing winds and weather patterns when locating windows.
- Providing ceiling fans for localized control of air movement without adjusting the temperature controls.
