Cornerstone served as the Owner’s Building Envelope Consultant for Fire Station 87, supporting the project with targeted enclosure strategies focused on durability, constructibility, and long-term performance. Our work emphasized the development of robust detailing solutions to enhance moisture and vapor control across the building envelope, helping to mitigate risk and improve overall building resilience.

A key component of our scope included the design and refinement of enclosure details at critical transition points, particularly within fenestration systems. These elements were carefully coordinated to ensure continuity of the air and water barrier while accommodating architectural intent and field conditions. In parallel, we provided technical input on metal assembly construction and detailing, optimizing these systems to better manage bulk water while maintaining environmental suitability and performance expectations.

During construction, Cornerstone actively reviewed contractor submittals, field detailing, and installation practices to identify and address potential deficiencies early. This proactive approach helped reduce rework, improve quality control, and support the long-term life cycle performance of the building enclosure systems.

Equally important, we facilitated ongoing communication between the owner and contractor teams, ensuring alignment on enclosure-related means, methods, and sequencing. By promoting clarity and collaboration throughout the construction process, we helped deliver a high-performing building envelope system tailored to the operational demands of a critical public safety facility.
